The un-American

So now some are calling Trump un-American.
Sounds very un-American to me to call a born and raised American un-American.
Everyone is supposed to think and act a certain way?
To be an American one must conform to a set of beliefs and ideas?
Next thing you know and people will be telling whites they are not white and blacks are not blacks because they don't conform to what others say blacks are or whites are.
And guess what? That happens too.
I am certain many Muslims find themselves in the same boat as Trump. They don't like being told they must act or think a certain way. I'm also certain there are many Muslims living in this country because they don't want to live in a Muslim country where they are told they must act and think in a certain way to be a real Muslim.
Maybe the real problem worldwide is people being sick and tired of religious leaders of any and all religions trying to force everyone to think and act the way they want them to think and act.
You know the deal. A Republican in name only. A Christian in name only. An American in name only.
Conform my precious sheep. Conform!

The Problem with Religion

The problem with religion is people.
The problem with religion takes place when people try to make religious laws into secular laws.
There wouldn't be a problem with religion if people did not try to enforce their religious beliefs by converting their beliefs into secular laws that apply to everyone and not just themself.
If people were to just demand only of themselves that they follow the religious teachings they claim to believe in and never were to try to force their religious beliefs and laws onto anyone else, there would not be a problem.
This is what is meant by and is the foundation of the separation of church and state.
Secular laws should not have anything to do with eternal salvation. Secular laws should exist only so people do not do unto others as they wouldn't want others to do unto them.
No one wants to be murdered, raped or robbed. That is why secular laws against murder, rape and robbery exist and are endorsed even by people who do not have any religious beliefs.
But even within the United States which proclaims to keep separate religious laws from secular laws, we see where this separation is often lacking.
Simple examples include laws against abortion and most laws that have anything to do with consensual sex.
One can come up with many arguments as to why no one should become a prostitute but one can also come up with many arguments as to why becoming an undercover cop is not a great job choice. Both undercover cops and prostitutes face many on the job dangers.
If you want to see examples of how horrible it can be to live in a country where religious laws are enforced with secular laws, you only need to look at countries where Islam is the dominant religion.
Take Saudi Arabia as a prime example. Would the average American woman feel free to live her life as she wants if she were living in or even visiting Saudi Arabia? No! American men would also feel limited in Saudi Arabia.
Not picking on Islam because Christian laws gone secular can also be oppressive to people who don't subscribe to Christian teachings. Abortion, gay marriage, gay sex and prostitution are clear examples of things some Christians believe should be secular crimes.
What is it about sex that causes so many people to have problems with it? Why is human sexuality so feared?
My take on it is that sex forcefully reminds us we are human animals. Our feelings are more powerful than our intellects. Sex is the gateway to physical life and life is the gateway to a physical death. Clothing has practical purposes but clothing also hides our animal bodies. Sex reminds us of our animal bodies.
Religions have little interest in our bodies and create the idea of an immortal soul that can be corrupted by our animal bodies that will end up dead anyway. Better to die than to sin.
Religions create a war between our bodies and our intellects or what religions call our souls. This results in many mental problems and illnesses.
You want to know why there are people who can be called Islamic terrorists? Because every religion - Christian, Islam, Hindu, etc. - has religious terrorists and every religion has the power to drive its adherents crazy. Their brains are at war with their bodies. And here is the truly crazy part. Their brains are part of their bodies. Trying to divorce the two creates mental illnesses. The result can be horrible.

The Dancing Valkyrie free Chapter 1

Below is the first Chapter of the novel - The Dancing Valkyrie.
To read more, go to Amazon where it is available in print for $13.55 or as an ebook for $2.99
Chapter 1

“If you like what you do, do it. There is absolutely no reason to change your life, Mary,” Joseph Gottsched was saying to Mary Hoffman in the great dining hall of his castle in the Adirondacks where he sat with his wife Elizabeth next to him on a leather sofa. Mary was sitting opposite of them on the raised hearth stone of the massive fireplace. The stone was almost cold to sit on, not having been warmed much by the sun that was now setting and casting the last of its rays into the castle.
Mary smiled and thought, “No reason to change my life?” But that thought was quickly replaced by thinking of how beautiful Joseph and Elizabeth Gottsched were, especially Elizabeth whom Mary had come to think of as Beth, her Beth.
Beth was sultry in a Mediterranean way with some Gypsy and Spanish blood in her. She was svelte in figure, had long black hair, yet exuded an aura of strength beyond the smallness of her frame. Joseph had about him a curious blend of European handsomeness and world weariness. Were it not for Mary’s experiences of the past few days, her eyes might have focused upon Joseph. She thought he was cute. But things had happened and those things tended to cause Mary to view Joseph as a rival.
Yes, there was about him a little boy’s innocence and youthfulness that floated on a nonchalant attitude most strikingly seen in the way his eyes twinkled and his lips seemed almost always ready to break his usual seriousness with a smile. He was neither short nor tall, neither fat nor thin, had black hair like his wife, though not as long, and in the proper lighting, he could almost be mistaken for being a brother rather than a husband to his wife. Beth and Joseph appeared to be in their late twenties or early thirties at most. But in their cases, in more ways than one, appearances could be very deceiving.
With glass of red wine in one hand and cigarette in the other, Beth said, “Show Joseph how well you dance, Mary. You know I won’t mind. You know how I love to watch you dance.”
Mary laughed, “Here?”
“Obviously,” Elizabeth said. “Oh! I suppose you would like some music, even though I know you don’t need it. I’ll put something on.”
Mary shrugged her shoulders and stood. Why not? Her world had gone totally crazy over the last few days and dancing might restore some degree of normalcy. She watched Elizabeth look through a pile of CDs next to the CD player on a nearby table and suggested, “Something moody but with a good beat. And not slow. Afro-pop or something like that. Rock is good too.”
“Yes,” Joseph agreed.
“And I give a rat’s ass?” Mary thought and started to dance, not waiting for the music to begin. She really didn’t need music to dance. It was in her head, even more so since meeting Beth on the trail. But it was difficult to understand the idea of since, the idea that she was no longer who she had thought she was and had become who she really was. Then again, maybe she was only dreaming the events of the past few days. Yes, no, maybe. “Screw it. I like this,” she told herself as she slipped into the mind set of an erotic dancer.
The black dress she was wearing -silky, clingy, showing all her curves -was a delightful dress for the type of dancing she did for a living. It was not her dress. Beth had given it to her to wear because all she had to wear were the hiking clothes she had packed for her hike in the northern wilds of New York on the Northville/Lake Placid trail. She had not planned on dancing. She had not planned on meeting Beth on the trail and then being invited to stay at a castle on a private lake deep within the forest. She had not planned for anything that had happened since meeting Beth.
Mary was already moving languidly, sensuously, when the New Age African beat reached her ears and where she quickly translated it into her flesh and blood. She closed her eyes and took herself to the erotic dance club where she worked in Schenectady. Sway and regain my balance, she thought. Be who I really am.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Beth and Joseph were sitting side by side again while watching her dance. She noticed but did not care that Joseph had one hand resting casually on one knee of Beth’s and had an arm draped over her shoulders. They did make a beautiful couple. So what? Fuck him!
But it was Beth’s eyes Mary’s eyes focused upon. It was Beth’s eyes that had first trapped her on the trail and were now trapping her again to dance her sexy best. Joseph did not really matter, she told herself, other than for the fact that he was proof Beth had good taste when it came to picking a man to marry. And how could she possibly blame Beth for picking a man who had given Beth so much more than the wealth this castle exemplified. Just look at them, she thought. Neither looked to be past their early thirties. How could she or anyone believe both were hundreds of years old? But Mary did believe and was now almost willing to believe she too could live a very long life without aging, maybe even live long enough to see the end of the United States if not the end of the world.
Mary smiled, undid the spaghetti straps holding up her dress, let the dress fall, let it slide down past her breasts, slip past her hips, let it fall to the floor and step out of it, kicking it out of the way and sending it sailing to land on Joseph’s lap. Yes! It was very definitely enjoyable to be feeling so very much alive!

Islam vs. Everyone

There is a debate taking place among the people who live in Europe and the United States, concerning accepting refugees from wars taking place in the Middle East and Africa.
Should we or shouldn't we take them in? Who and how many?
I gave "Islam vs Everyone" as the title to this blog but I could just as well titled it "Secularism vs Islam."
Well, stop and think about it. The Islamic fundamentalists - aka terrorists - believe their faith is under attack by everyone who is not Muslim. Their war is a war to protect and advance Islam to the point where everyone submits to the Islamic faith. At the very least, they want to exclude all Western values and influences from countries that are predominantly Islamic. Once that is accomplished, the next goal is to add to the number of countries that are predominantly Muslim.
There is justification to their view. When they hear the United States proclaim it wants to make the world safe for democracy, they hear the United States saying it wants to impose its quasi-Christian/secular ways upon their world, the Islamic world. They want none of it.
All they want from the United States and the rest of the non-Islamic world is money and goods. They don't want our culture.
So what about these refugees? Should we take them in?
There is no simple answer but I do believe it is important to realize that to a great extent, the Islamic terrorist view them as missionaries even if most of the refugees don't see themselves as missionaries.
Think of the home grown terrorists in the United States and Europe. They feel marginalized in the western countries they find themselves living in and react in a negative manner.

The Indian Tomb - Debra Paget - Snake Dance Scene - HD

Vampires attack Islamic State

Below is a short piece from the latest vampire novel I am working on,
The tentative title is "The Return of Vlad the Impaler."

It was a dark, cloud covered night, somewhere near the border between Iraq and Syria, an area under the control of ISIS. A small group of ISIS jihadist were asleep in a small house located at the edge of a small town occupied by ISIS forces. Because of its location at the edge of town, one of the fighters had agreed to stand watch. Not that there was any concern that any of the locals would dare to attack while the group slept, but the decision was made one should stand watch just in case the Americans might attempt a night attack with a drone. Truth be told, the leader of the small group knew a guard would have little to no chance of warning those asleep of possible danger from Americans but did like to keep his small group constantly aware that danger was always near and what better way than to have a night guard even if having one wouldn’t save anyone of anything other than the worry that something might happen and that worry prevent them from having a good night’s sleep.
The night watchman, a young man in his early twenties, occupied himself by reading the Koran. He was able to read it in the meager light of a small fire he had built more for its light than its warmth. Occupied as he was, he was unaware that a man and a woman came out of the darkness to stand behind him. Only when the woman knelt beside him and kissed him on his neck did he realize he was not alone. If he had been able to move his hand, he would have responded by slapping at where he felt the kiss because although the kiss was soft and wet, there was also the sensation of being pricked, perhaps by a bug. But because he was unable to respond in any way, fear filled him as he slumped to the ground, unable to move a muscle or even feel himself fall to the ground. Had he just fallen asleep and was he now just caught in a dream?
The dream had him first seeing his Koran had fallen to the edge of the small fire where it began to burn. Then the small fire became smaller and smaller, and he could only guess he was being dragged away from the fire. It was just a guess because he couldn’t feel himself being dragged. He felt nothing. Nothing at all! But he then realized he could hear.
Far from the fire, now only a spot of light seen from the ground of the desert, he heard voices in his own language speaking to him. It was a woman’s voice telling him, “Nothing personal but seeing as how you people like to terrorize people, you’ve been chosen to bring a little terror into your own lives. You believe you are right. You believe you are doing Allah’s will in killing the unbelievers. You know nothing about the gods by whatever names you give them. You think any gods other than your one true god you call Allah are figments of other’s imagination caused by their sinfulness. But before this night is through, you will know there are things you don’t believe in but do exist. You will know because you will die at the hands of two very real vampires who knew Vlad Dracula who killed by impaling thousands of warriors from the Ottoman Empire.”
Nothing was making any sense to the young man. He had heard of the Ottoman Empire and had heard of a fictional vampire named Dracula but had never heard of the real Count Dracula and what he had done to the Muslims who had invaded Romania. He was certain this must be a dream because he felt nothing. He was certain until his eyes having grown accustomed to the darkness and he had his first glimpse of the two who had been pulling him away from the camp fire, which was now hardly a dot off in the distance.
What he appeared to see was a man and a woman, both naked and busy pulling off his clothes. After pulling off his clothes, they moved beyond his sight. He didn’t see them again until he found himself standing but not seemingly standing of his own accord. How could this be?
The answer to his question became horror when the beautiful, naked woman said to him while standing in front of him and slightly to his side, “When they find you in the morning, they will see you dead and standing here, thanks to a pole up your ass. They will also see but struggle to disbelieve what they see when they see fang marks on either side of your neck made by two vampires who took your blood. For you, not to worry. All you will feel is the intense pleasure we will cause when we take you blood. Say hello to your god when you see our god and goddess who loves us very much.”
After not feeling anything, all of a sudden the young ISIS warrior felt himself engulfed in a pleasure far greater than he had ever experienced. Immediately he had an erection and soon thereafter he was squirting his seed out to land upon the desert sands.
In the morning he was found with a note written in Arabic. The leader of the group read it to himself.
“Know this, you who call yourselves the defenders of the god you call Allah,” it read. “No true god needs any human defenders. You kill and are killed according to the laws of fate and chaos written for all ages. You think in terms of good and evil, the Original Sin created by Adam and Eve. But good and evil are merely choices you humans make. The Creator is not constrained by the ideas of humans. Your thoughts and your ways are not the thoughts and ways of the Creator who smiled upon creation and said, ‘All is good.’ Yes, even the vampires who slew your comrade are good in the eyes of the Creator. Think long and hard about your ways, and maybe the vampires will leave you alone to live out your days with those you love. Heed not these words and the vampires will kill you as Vlad Dracula the Impaler prevented the Ottomans from taking over Romania.”

The Power of Trump

Not a day goes by when you don't hear or read where someone in the media or a politician from any party is saying something negative about Donald Trump.
They all say he doesn't have a chance of being nominated as the Republican candidate for President, let alone be elected as President.
Question. If everyone is so confident Trump doesn't have a chance, why do they spend so much time attacking him?
It does seem as though the more they attack him, the more he rises in the polls.
Why might that be?
I think the reasons are many and deep.
First, many Americans see both the Democrats and Republicans as two sides to the same coin. Democrats are seen as taking away one half of our freedoms and Republicans are seen as taking away the other half. Both seem to be bound by special interests that buy their votes. Both want to divide and conquer the general public. Neither party seems to have any interest in putting American citizens first. Members of both parties want Americans to think of them as fine, upstanding people of high moral character.
What Americans do care about is having a decent job and they would like to be left alone to live their lives as they see fit. They really don't care about any other country in the world. They are sick of being dragged into wars that cost lives and money without providing any benefit to them.
For many, I believe, Trump is seen as the "None of the Above" candidate. He evokes the "I'm mad as hell and won't take it anymore" reaction to both the Republican and Democratic candidates.
It seems as though it matters little which party wins any election for anything. Nothing changes. The rich get richer and everyone else is stuck where they are if lucky or gets poorer if not so lucky.
We now live in a country where just about everything is illegal and what isn't illegal (yet) costs too much.
About the only thing we are Number One at is the number of people in jail.
We really haven't won a war since WW II.

Solving global warming

Look, if you really want to do something about global warming and or climate change, you need to go to the root of the problem.
In 1950 the world population was 2,525,778,669. In 2015 it is estimated to be 7,324,782,225. This is nearly triple what it was in 1950.
The root of the problem is the human animal.
More and more people equals a greater and greater demand for everything including more energy from all sources.
If there is no control of the population, there is no way "clean energy" will ever solve the problem.
If the population had been stabilized at 2,525,778,66, the earth would probably be cooling instead of warming.
Clean energy is kind of like trying to bale water faster out of a sinking boat while you load more people into the sinking boat.

Some pluses to gay sex

There are some advantages that gay sex has over heterosexual sex.
Most obvious should be that no one never need worry about anyone getting pregnant from it.
In a world way over populated, this primary feature should be seen as a positive.
If the choice is between masturbation and gay sex, gay sex could be seen as a better alternative. And if you dare to think about it, masturbation is a form of same sex sex, unless someone of the opposite sex is masturbating you.
The biggest down side to gay sex is the label. Many people view gay sex as unnatural and treat anyone who indulges in gay sex as somewhat less than human. There is a fair amount of bigotry out there.
I am not advocating anyone to indulge in gay sex, anymore than I would advocate anyone indulging in heterosexual sex.
I just want to point out some things about it that are often overlooked and/or simply oppressed.
When it comes to sex, the body simply does not care who is touching it where. It simply reacts to what feels pleasurable or painful. It is the brain, which happens to be part of the body, that has its preferences and makes objections. This is why rape and all forms of molestation are so wrong.
Let's take the case of someone who is not gay but is sexually molested. Not always but more often than recognized is what causes the shame of being raped or molested. It comes from experiencing pleasure when it is not wanted. And in cases of gay rape, the victim can wonder and worry they might be gay because they did experience some unwanted sexual pleasure. The victim can wonder, "Did they see in me what I don't see or have been oppressing in myself."
We humans are very complicated creatures. Our bodies have wants and desires that aren't interested in anything called sexual morality. Morality is in the head, not the body.
Where am I coming from to say what I am saying?
Once upon a time a long time ago I was molested by a friend of the family. I ran off into the night filled with shame and worry I might be gay. My mind even to this day has blocked out the details of what happened. In an effort to determine if I was in fact gay and was only running from my true nature, I paid for the services of a prostitute (the only time I ever did) and was relieved that I could easily perform as a man.
But the worry did continue for a long time and part of what I used for recovery was cutting myself to let the demon out during the year immediately after the gay experience.
The funny thing is I never hated the person who molested me. Made sure never to see him again but never hated him.
Why? What would be the point? What would I gain? At the very least it was a learning opportunity. I eventually came to realize sex is just sex. It is not love. It is not about who you are. It's a pleasure that can be had with the same sex, the opposite sex or by yourself. It all depends upon what you want or don't want to do.
I mentioned I went to a prostitute a few weeks after I had an unwanted gay experience. Then about four years after that experience, I got drunk with a male friend of mine and one thing led to another that found us naked together and having sex.  That was the last time, now almost 50 years ago, that I had sex with a man.
It wasn't bad. I know I enjoyed the pleasure. I also know I felt it was all rather pointless because I wasn't attracted to him, didn't love him, and have never been attracted to men. I think what might have happened under the influence (excuse) of being drunk was wanting to know what I experienced when I was molested. And what I learned was that sexual pleasure is sexual pleasure but being attracted to someone makes the experience memorable - and it is women, preferably women I see  as beautiful, that I have always been attracted to.
Further, I know that for some men and women, it is the same sex they are attracted to and fall in love with.
What this all means is that we are all human and being human can be very complicated and confusing.
Straight or gay, we need to follow our own desires but must never trick or force anyone, same or opposite sex, to have sex with us.
And there is no reason to put down anyone whose desires are different from ours.

The Dancing Valkyrie a vampire novel

The Dancing Valkyrie begins the story about Mary Hoffman, aka Erica, an erotic, topless dancer in Schenectady, NY, who becomes a living vampire of flesh and blood while on a hike in the Adirondacks of Northern New York.
The novel takes an unconventional view of vampires, imagining them as real creatures who can pass for being human both day and night. They breathe and have heart beats as do humans or any other creature.  They eat real food but do require blood from predators and since  humans are the most numerous of the world's predators, they limit the taking of the blood they need to humans.
In an odd sort of way, this makes the story an environmental story. The vampires could take the blood they need from lions, tigers and wolves but since their numbers are limited and they are in danger of extinction, the vampires limit the taking of the blood they need from humans.
Some may find these stories troublesome and even offensive because there is more explicit sex scenes than are are scenes of violence.
Because these vampires are sexually active but cannot procreate in the human way, they are bisexual among themselves and with humans. They just love sex and don't care all that much about who they have sex with, male or female, human or vampire.
Sex is often the lure they use to get a human in a situation where they can easily take the blood they need - usually only after giving the human victim the best sex they ever had before they die.
Follow the exploits of Mary in the novels starting with the Dancing Valkyrie, then move on with her in The Vampire Valkyrie, And God Created Vampires, and The Blood Red Pleasure.
The books are available in print from many online bookstores including Amazon and Barnes & Noble. In ebook format they are only available from Amazon.

Thoughts on gay marriage.

Only a few years ago, no one would have thought the US Supreme Court would make gay marriage legal throughout the land.
But if you think about it, more than inevitable, it was logical.
How so?
Well, it has been going on forever. It just wasn't called marriage.
Forever, two people of the same sex have been living together, just like people of the opposite sex. And just like people of the opposite sex, married or not, they may or may not have sex with each other.
If two people of the opposite sex can be married, live together and have or not have sex, why not two people of the same sex?
See, what I'm trying to point out here is the obvious. Even when you have two people of the opposite sex living together, there is no law that says they must have sex with each other - even if they are married.
While it is true there is the presumption that a man and a woman who are married are having sex, at least sometimes, it is not a requirement. About the only way not having sex in a marriage between a man and a woman comes into play is when one party enters into marriage with no intention of ever having sex. Then the one who entered the marriage with the belief they would have sex but is denied it by the person they married, they have the right to an annulment. Legally, they have sold grounds for a divorce.
When I was young and before I got married, I shared an apartment with another guy on two separate occasions. We didn't have sex but we did live together. In today's world, I guess we could get married even if we had no desire to have sex.
What this all comes down to is what is currently taking place has always been taking place. People who live together may or not be having sex, married or not. Should it have ever been anyone's business? I don't believe so.
And let's not forget. Married or not married, living with someone of the same sex, the opposite sex or living alone, a person could be having sex. Bottom line, there is something called masturbation and that takes places when people live alone or with someone of the same or opposite sex, married or not.

Dracula meets Beth

Below is a small section of the new vampire novel I have started writing.
Joseph clearly remembered a day when he and Beth were seated at a table with Dracula and sharing a meal while they watched Muslims warriors of the Ottoman Empire being impaled. The meal included cups of blood to drink from and it was their willingness to drink the blood that caused Dracula to quip, “So I am not wrong in thinking even for you the blood of enemies is worth drinking?”
It was Beth who responded, “No, my lord, you are not mistaken. I do have one questions.”
“What is that?”
“Have you ever had the opportunity to drink blood from one who freely gives it to you?”
“What a novel idea. Who would do that?”
“I have. Joseph and I sometimes share blood during the heat of passion. Never enough to cause our death, obviously, but enough to demonstrate our total trust of each other.”
Dracula laughed, “I must try that sometime. I wonder if my wife trusts me that much.”
Joseph said, “She might if she feels you trust her enough to share some of yours.”
Dracula laughed again and said, “Ah, my friends in blood, you speak of truths I seldom hear. Now tell me true. Do you think I am cruel and evil to impale these poor fools who are only guilty of doing what their master has ordered? I know it’s gruesome. I know they suffer much and wish they had met an honorable death on the battlefield.”
Joseph said, “I would think it was cruel if I thought cruelty was your purpose.”
“And what think you is my purpose?”
“To frighten those who have not been killed on the battlefield. War is not simply the killing on the battlefield. War is as much a battle of the minds as it is a battle of physical bodies. To win a war, you must convince the minds of your enemy that suing for peace is the better option.”
“This I know. But I worry those who tell me they are my allies are the ones who will be my greatest enemies.”
Beth said, “There I cannot help you, my lord. What little comfort we can offer you is our friendship and our understanding of the position your birth has put you in. We are not nobility and are not subject to the demands placed upon you by your birth. I was a whore before Joseph married me and I like to think I am still a whore, open to whatever life sends to me. I applaud your efforts to keep the Muslims out of this land. I know well how I would be treated by the Turks if they were to rule the land.”
“You know well. How well?”
“A whore meets many men who want to plow her, as do all women who know the nature of men. The difference lies in the whore’s ability to read lust in the eyes and not reject the lust but rather to encourage it with her eyes. When a whore, I encouraged the lust I would see in the eyes of men. It was my way of making a living in a world that offers few opportunities for a woman to survive without being married. As fate would have it, I chanced to meet a Muslim from Egypt who wanted me. I obliged and while I was obliging him, I could see in his eyes he had no intention of paying me for my service with the agreed upon amount. Rather, his choice of payment was a knife meant for my throat. When he got up to leave, he went to his clothing with the pretext of getting the money he owed to me when what he was really doing was going for his knife to slit my throat. When he came for me, it was I who slit his throat. By profession, I always knew there would come a day when I needed to defend myself, so I always carried a very sharp knife and still do.”
Beth immediately pulled out her knife hidden in the folds of her dress and stuck its point in the table while saying, “Would you allow me my lord to freshen our drinks by taking the blood from that Muslim over there whose agony has apparently caused him to have an erection. Maybe he is dreaming about all the virgins he will soon be enjoying in some paradise promised by Mohammed.”
Dracula was fascinated by the proposal and responded, “Yes, he does seem to be enjoying the nearness of death too much. I would love to watch you get some revenge.”
Beth pulled out her knife from where it was stuck in the table. Taking it and her empty cup, she walked over to the man was pierced through and through from one side of his torso to the other, and thus hung suspended about five feet above the ground, prevented from slipping down the pole that pierced him by a wooden stay attached to the pole.
Beth would have preferred to sink her fangs into his throat and thus give him some pleasure before taking his life. This not being the time or place, she pierced his jugular with her knife and was able to quickly fill her cup with his blood.
Coming back to the table, she poured equal portions of blood into Dracula’s and Joseph’s cups and said, “I hope you enjoy my offering to you, my lord.”
Dracula responded by raising his cup and saying, “No one has ever offered a gift of such value to me. In your honor, Lady Beth, I bequeath to you a small castle I own in the mountains of Transylvania.”
“You mustn’t.”
“I must and you must accept. I would be offended if you didn’t, though I do appreciate your demure.”
“I do and I will always think fondly of you every time I go there. I will cherish your memory and will always speak of you as an honorable man who would do anything for the land he loves.”
“And I of you.”
Joseph saw Beth’s and Dracula’s eyes meet and understood what their eyes were saying to each other. It was a very strange and bitter sweet conversation their eyes shared. It was odd but Joseph was certain that at some level Dracula understood he and Beth were vampires. Dracula also appeared to sense Beth was telling him that in another life she would willing be his lover and wanted to comfort this lover she would never have, but was unable to save him from the fate he knew he would met some day. It was the thought that she would remember him as a human being worthy of being loved and not someone who was vile and cruel that gave him comfort. That was over 500 years ago when the three were very young.

Blood and sex. Of course love, but not the way humans think about it. This is the recurring theme throughout The Dancing Valkyrie, a story about Mary Hoffman, librarian by day and exotic dancer by night. Mary, needing some time alone takes a hike along a secluded upstate New York trail. She is saved from two predatory young men by Beth, a beautiful woman slightly older than Mary. The two join together for the rest of the trail, becoming romantically involved along the way. Beth, it turns out is a vampire, and quickly introduces Mary to the mystical world she lives in. After inviting Mary back to her castle, built by her brother, Joseph, in a remote area, Mary is seduced into becoming a vampire as well. Joseph and Beth are hundreds of years old, and pose as brother / sister, but are husband and wife, or, in vampire terms, father and daughter. Thus begins the fascinating story of Mary's transition from human woman to vampire.

And don't forget, if you order the paperback edition at $13.99, you can always add the ebook for $0.99

I am Charlie

Not really, I am me, whomever that might be.
But, I recently tried to pin to one my Pintrest boards a photo of from the French weekly and was blocked from doing it.
Censorship? But of course.
Must not offend Muslims nor anyone in the wimpy, political correct world we have created.
But here is the thing. I am offended. I am offended by everyone who is offended by everything and anything.
Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, whatever, if any of them have an ounce of faith, then there should not be any reason for any of them to be offended.
Are they? The way I see it, if there is a God, then that God is powerful enough to laugh at anyone who thinks they could possibly offend them. It is stupid to think the creator of everything could be offended by mere humans.
But you know what is really going on. There are people in every religion who would like to force you to believe as they believe. They aren't to good at getting their believers to do everything they demand them to do and can't stop them from doing everything they want to stop them from doing. Therefore, they want to get control of governments to force their laws down everyone's throat.  They want everyone to SUBMIT.
I write the novels I write without regard to anyone's feelings. I use my promiscuous and sexy vampires to show that vampires, just like humans, enjoy sex for the sake of sex and without any thought of procreating. Nothing against procreating but 99% or more of all sex is done for the fun of it.
If that offends you, suck it up.

Problems with printed books

There are two problems with printed books. both soft cover and hard cover, both of which I happen to like.
Cost is the number one problem. The second problem is weight.
If you own a lot of books like I do, you quickly realize how much they weigh when you move. Coming up to the Adirondacks or anyplace else and it’s much easier to lug along your Kindle than it is to bring more than a couple of books. If you buy books online as many do, you instantly can start reading the e-book while you have to wait a week to have the printed version shipped. If you pay for faster shipping, the cost of the printed book goes way up.
You say you don’t like reading digital? That is exactly what you are doing right now. Yes, printed books are nice. I love them so much that I have several sitting on one of my many bookshelves that I have never read. They look nice sitting there and I encourage you to buy your print books from me, and while you are at it, you can also download the e-book version for when you feel you don’t want to carry the print when you go on vacation.
The best of both worlds can be had at Amazon where if you purchase a printed book that is also available as an e-book, you can add the e-book to your collection for as little as only 99 cents to no more than $1.99.
Klein says, “And don’t forget. You don't need to own a Kindle device to enjoy my Kindle books. Download one of Amazon’s free Kindle apps to start reading my Kindle books on all your devices. The Kindle app is available for every major smartphone, tablet, and computer.
Currently, Klein has four vampire novels in print and they are also available as eBooks on Amazon.
It was on May 21, 2014, that the new vampire novel - Blood Red Pleasure - became available in print and as e-book.
Blood Red Pleasure is available on Amazon at $12.59 in paperback and $3.99 in e-book, and is available at
The Dancing Valkyrie is available on Amazon at $12.59 in paperback and $3.99 in e-book, and is available at
The Vampire Valkyrie is available on Amazon at $12.59 in paperback and $3.99 in e-book, and is available at
And God Created Vampires is available on Amazon at $12.59 in paperback and $3.99 in e-book, and is available at
Also, with the summer season approaching, Klein’s guide book to trails and things to do in the Adirondacks of Hamilton County, N.Y., - Adirondack Hikes in Hamilton County - is available on Amazon at $12.59 in paperback and $3.99 in e-book, and is available at
Confession of an Online Male Prostitute is available on Amazon at $7.99 in paperback and $2.99 in e-book, and is available at

Book Publishing Facts

What are the odds of getting published?
Traditional publishing vs. self-publishing.
No matter which route you go, will you make any money?
The answers are varied, inconclusive and not very promising.
Below are some facts I gathered from various sources you might find interesting, depressing or maybe even hopeful.
Publishing facts
There are about 1.2 million books published each year in the US. Nielson Bookscan tracked the records for 2004 and came up with that number. The rest of the statistics:
1. Of those 1.2 million books, 950,000 sold fewer than 99 copies.
2. Another 200,000 sold fewer than 1,000 copies.
3. Only 25,000 books sold more than 5,000 copies.
4. Fewer than 500 sold more than 100,000 copies.
5. Only 10 books sold more than a million copies each.
6. The average book in the US sells about 500 copies
Traditional Publishers
Typically, an author can expect to receive the following royalties:
Hardback edition: 10% of the retail price on the first 5,000 copies; 12.5% for the next 5,000 copies sold, then 15% for all further copies sold. Paperback: 8% of retail price on the first 150,000 copies sold, then 10% thereafter.
How many books on Amazon?
The latest rough estimate and growing is: Paperbacks 22.9m, Hardcover 8.1M and Kindle 1.2m
Print on demand with digital technology is used as a way of printing items for a fixed cost per copy, regardless of the size of the order. While the unit price of each physical copy printed is higher than with offset printing, the average cost is lower for very small print runs, because setup costs are much higher for offset printing.
POD has other business benefits besides lower costs (for small runs): Technical set-up is usually quicker than for offset printing. Large inventories of a book or print material do not need to be kept in stock, reducing storage, handling costs, and inventory accounting costs. There is little or no waste from unsold products.
These advantages reduce the risks associated with publishing books and prints, and can lead to increased choice for consumers.
How many POD publishers are there? Many! Here are just a few
AuthorHouse, Aventine Press, Blurb, CreateSpace, iUniverse, Infinity Publishing, Lightning Source, Lulu, Luminare Press LLC, Outskirts Press, Replica Books, Virtual Bookworm, Wordclay, and Xlibris.
