Indian Lake supports DEC and APA

INDIAN LAKE—The Indian Lake Town Board held an Emergency Town Board Meeting on August 27 for the purpose of signing a board resolution in support of d the Department of Environmental Conservation and the Adirondack Park Agency's appeal of the Third Appellate Courts decision of Jul y    3.
The approved and passed unanimously resolution reads as follow: “WHEREAS, The Town Board of the Town of Indian Lake on May 12, 2008 passed Resolution# 3 of 2008 in support of New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and The Nature Conservancy's acquisition of some 161,000 +/- acres within the Adirondacks.
” WHEREAS, DEC Commissioner Grannis and the TNC staff members have presented the details for the disposition of 35,392 acres in the Town of Indian Lake complete with routes of permanent snowmobile trails that connect with the Towns of Newcomb, Lake Pleasant, Inlet, North Hudson, Minerva and Long Lake.
“WHEREAS, the Board of the Town of Indian Lake has publicly heard, "loud and clear'', DEC and TNC proclaim their intent to help our municipalities with these connecting snowmobile trails.
“WHEREAS, The Town Board of the Town of Indian Lake vehemently opposes the Third Appellate Court decision concerning the definition of what constitutes a "tree" in the Adirondack and Catskill Parks.
“And Be it Further Resolved; The Town Board of the Town of Indian Lake fully supports NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation and the Adirondack Park Agency's Appeal of the Third Appellate Courts Decision of July 3, 2019.”
