The selfish American

What bothers me about this whole health care debate is the underlying selfishness that seems to be the basis of opposition to health care reform. It seems to be a case of "I got mine. Tough luck if you don't have yours."
I wonder how the vote might have gone if we were to take away the free health care all of our elected officials have. I wonder how it would have went if a law were passed that required all who have health insurance through their job were required to pay the full premium.
I think I know the answer. I think everyone would know the answer. There would be riots.
The fact of the matter is that all health insurance is currently being subsidized in a variety of ways. The problem is that some people are being subsidized more than others.
