Long Lake adopts 2020 budget

RAQUETTE LAKE—After holding a public hearing to Public Hearing on Proposed Local Law #1 – A law to allow the Town of Long Lake to exceed the “2% tax cap,” and then adopting the local law after holding the Public Hearing, the Long Lake Town Board adopted its 2020 budget when it held its monthly meeting in the Raquette Lake School gym on October 30.
What follows is a synopsis of the budget the board adopted.
THE GENERAL FUND show appropriations of $3,277,76, less estimated revenues of $280,900, less $257,100 in appropriated fund balance, leaving $2,739,706 to be raised in taxes.
THE HIGHWAY FUND shows appropriations of $945,687 less estimated revenues of $5,150, less $30,000 in appropriated fund balance, leaving $910,537 to be raised in taxes.
LONG LAKE FIRE DISTRICT shows $621,398, less $30,000 in appropriated fund balance, leaving $591,398 to be raised by taxes.
RAQUETTE LAKE FIRE DISTRICT shows $76,977 to be raised by taxes.
LONG LAKE WATER DISTRICT shows $716,967 in appropriations, minus estimated revenues of $156,000, leaving $560,967 to be raised in taxes.
RAQUETTE LAKE WATER DISTRICT shows $121,729 in appropriations, minus estimated revenues of $10,200, less $10,000 in appropriated fund balance, leaving $101,529in taxes.
Comparing the adopted 2020 budget total (excluding the fire districts) of $4,312, 739 to the 2019 budget total (excluding the fire districts) of $4,021,578 shows an increase of $291,161 or a 7.24 percent increase and over the 2 percent CAP.
ESTIMATED TAX RATES BASED UPON 2018 ASSESSMENTS
The tax rate per $100,000 of assessed value compares 2020 to 2019 as follows:
Townwide General $308.64 up from $284.03 in 2019.
Townwide Highway $102.57, up from $93.67
Long Lake Fire District $95.08, up from $92.12.
Raquette Lake Fire District $26.37, up from $22.65
Long Lake Water District $181.42, up from $172.93.
Raquette Lake Water District $152.61, down from $196.17 in 2019.
Other items approved by the board include the following:
The board approved placing a bench in honor of Bill and Abbie Verner on the Beach Lawn.
The board approved a new Longevity Policy.
The board approved updating Emergency Response Manual.
The board approved Bid Documents for Fuel Oil Delivery 2020.
The board approved Legal Notice and Approval to Post for Fuel Oil Delivery Bids.
The board approved Bid Documents for Propane Delivery for 2020.
The board approved Legal Notice and Approval to Post for Propane Delivery Bids for 2020.
The board approved Bid Documents for Furnace Service Contract for 2020.
The board approved Legal Notice and Approval to Post for Furnace Service Bids for 2020.
The board approved Medical Center Cleaning Contract.
The board approved Award of Cleaning Contract for Public Bathrooms and Cleaner Substitute.
